The following are memories from Emanuel Lianez by way of his son Cardo.
What was the first band you were in?
Ronny Coons could play the guitar and I could sing. We went to Middle Point HS gym to play on Sunday afternoon and whoever would come in and dance or listen. Ronny got the idea to start a band. Had a piano player. Bass player. Dub Sheets was lead guitar player. I was 18-19.
Where and when did the band play?
The band played as far as St. Mary’s Lake which had a dance hall. We used to play regularly at a night club WED, SUN, SAT night. SUN afternoon we’d go to St. Mary’s. Eventually we got a more permanent gig at St Mary’s lake.
How did you join the Impossibles?
Dub was looking for a lead singer for his band The Impossibles. The existing lead singer was running into trouble with his wife since being the lead singer of a band often came with attracting women. I had a higher voice. I could do the Duke of Earl song really good. I did feel bad about leaving Ronny’s band.
